Handmade Wooden Ring Boxes: The One-of-a-Kind Way to Propose — and the Perfect 5th Anniversary Gift
Share

The moment you open the box matters as much as the ring inside it. A velvet box from a chain store is forgotten the second the “yes” is said. A ring box turned by hand from a single block of hardwood becomes part of the story — something kept on a shelf for decades, not tossed in a drawer.
Every ring box we make is turned individually on the lathe. The grain you see is unique to that one piece of wood, which means the box holding your ring quite literally cannot be replicated.
In the video below, you can watch a luxury ring box turned by hand from a single block of spalted beech — from raw blank to finished, ring-ready box.
Why wood — and why it matters for a proposal
Wood carries weight that plastic and velvet never will. It’s warm to the touch, it ages, and it lasts. We turn our ring boxes from premium hardwoods — cherry, American and European walnut, oak, maple, spalted beech and more — each chosen for its character and durability. Spalted beech in particular carries fine dark “spalting” lines that no two blanks share, making each box a one-off.

The perfect 5th anniversary gift
Wood is the traditional gift for a 5th wedding anniversary — a symbol of the strength and stability a couple has built over five years. A handmade wooden ring box (or a wooden jewelry box to keep a ring safe) turns that tradition into something lasting and personal, rather than a token bought in a hurry.

Made to order, made to keep
Because each box is turned by hand, we also take custom orders — a specific wood for the box, engraving on the box, or a matching handmade ring turned from a single wood or from wood paired with epoxy resin. If you have a date in mind (a proposal, an anniversary), tell us early so we can turn, finish, and ship it in time.

Frequently asked questions
How big is a handmade wooden ring box?
Each box is turned to comfortably hold a standard ring.
Can the ring box be personalized?
Yes. Ring boxes can be engraved and made in your choice of wood. Matching handmade rings can be customized by wood — a single wood type, or wood combined with epoxy resin. (Engraving is available on the boxes; rings are personalized through the wood or wood-and-resin choice.)
How long does a made-to-order ring box take to ship?
Each piece is turned individually, so lead time depends on the current queue. If you have a proposal or anniversary date, contact us early so we can plan the turning and finishing around it.
Is a wooden ring box a good 5th anniversary gift?
Wood is the traditional 5th wedding anniversary material, so a handmade wooden ring or jewelry box is a fitting — and lasting — choice.
